The ladder in this series
Four class levels per series, commonly Class I through IV; names and prerequisites vary by state. Higher classes qualify operators for larger or more complex systems, and most careers climb one class at a time as experience accrues. Your state's candidate information lists its exact names, prerequisites and any education substitutions.
The math is the differentiator
Every series leans on applied math delivered as word problems, with the formula and conversion table on the desk. The testable skill is recognizing which formula the problem wants, converting units cleanly, and holding roughly ninety seconds per question across three hours. The math method trains exactly those three, and the series study notes walk this exam's territory.
